LT1 Intake Gasket Question
Ok, so I just got my timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket changed, now the intake gasket is leaking. How difficult is it to do this yourself?? The shop said it would take about 5 hrs., and be about $590 parts & labor. Can I do this myself without a lot of hassle??

yeah it's fairly easy. something like this
1. relieve pressure from shraeder valve
2. disconnect wiring harness from injectors, map sensor, etc
3. disconnect fuel lines
4. remove fuel rails and injectors
5. disconnect intake elbow from throttle body
6. remove intake
7. replace gasket
it really shouldn't take a shop 5 hrs to do either

Piece of cake. You'll need a few misc tools (torque wrench for sure, fuel line disconnect optional as you can just move the entire rail assembly aside), and about 3 hours if you're a first timer. A set of Fel-Pro replacement gaskets runs about $20 at the local auto chains and comes with a new TB gasket, EGR gaskets, and injector O-rings (I never used those though). You'll need a tube of RTV also, black or grey seem to work best for me.
