Pushrod length / valve contact area
Howdy,
I am building an engine for a friend. Trying to check the pushrod length. I've used a checker, but don't have anyway to measure it accurately. The 7.4 pushords take about 1 1/4 turn from 0 lash to torqued rocker. Using a permanent marker, the pattern is a little off center - it is about the 3/4 spot on the valve stem tip.
Any thoughts on if this is close to spec or should i get some shorter pushrods?
Parts: engine is SLP milled 63.5 cc 241 heads (unknown amount), TSP Torquer V2 cam, 7.4 pushrods, unknown lifters (probably stock), head gasket unknown.
PTV clearanve checked out ok.
Thanks,
James

If the rockers are stock, pushrod length won't affect the wipe pattern. From your description, it sounds like the wipe pattern is 3/4 towards exhaust, you may need a set of lash caps if thats the case and you have stock rockers. Haven't heard of anyone using them on an LSx engine though, and not sure if they will fit or are available for an 8mm valve.
