Default Inspection woes...

Once they fail it, is there anything you can do? Of course everything passes but tint, and this same place for 5 years never checked but now they do. So now its got an X on the sticker and a red flag on the system. Besides strip the film and go back, what can I do (ideally without losing the $40) ?

is it just the side windows failing? If so, roll down your windows and pull the fuse. No law stating you have to have windows as far as I know.

They checked driver side front exclusively. I had them all down when i handed over the keys though, they still rolled up to check. When I go back and they see the "dark tint" in the system I think it might be a little obvious if the windows are suddenly "removed"

You had to pay 100 for an inspection? I'm guessing that **** wasn't legal. Inspection limits are set by the State. It cant be more than 38.50 (or whatever it is), it can be less... but NEVER more. I would take the receipt to the state and report those guys.

I've got 10% on the sides, and I did the ol' extra $40 if we just ignored that little issue.

Next time, I'm driving to podunk home town and have it done.

If thats the case, then an illegal sticker is only 40 in SA?

once your car is in the system and a failure is noted, it will be very difficult to find a shop to overlook the reason it failed and pass the car. Looks fishy when someone fails at one shop and passes somewhere else. I'd just pull the window tint off, you can get it re-done afterwards if you really want it bad enough. Legal window tint is fine with me.

"hmm...if I pull it off, I could just trade the car in and have the tint done on a new car"

Too bad your not in the fort worth area, I found a couple here. I was having problems with an inspection last week cause of tint and exhaust. I ended up finding someone willing to pass it for 100, then found someone that just hooked me up for the 40. Just cruise around through the shadiest parts of town and giving those shops a shot, took about 8 shops for me though. A lot of them will have the no pass no pay signs.

15 is legal. The legal limit is 15 for city and 20 for any highway driving is what I was told recently when I got my inspectors license. he said that at 15 it will pass, but the second you get on the highway the legal limit is 20% and you can get a ticket there, but not on city streets for 15%.. Meaning they have to pass you at 15%.. Ask them to get the book and show you where it says 15% fails. Every shop is required to have one, it says what passes, and what dosent.

Well hell, this guy was ragging on chevys the entire two days of class, so maybe hes just a **** smoking idiot lol. I'd still ask for the book, if they dont have it then maybe they will just pass you rather than risk you calling them in. I know that by law, if you fail on obd2 you have like 15 days to get a free recheck.. So if you end up going elsewhere make sure you at least get your freebie from them.. I failed visual because of no cats, even though the truck passed obd2.. I spent like 200$ on new cat and exhaust work, then they look on the WRONG side of the truck and said "yep, hes got a cat now" and passed me.... He couldent see it from that side anyways lol. Wortha shot.
