Default Can I beef up the stock rear?

How delicate is the stock 10 bolt? How much abuse can it take? Will hardened shafts and a cover that helps support the bearing caps help at all? Or is it just the small ring and pinion that makes it weak? Can it be strengthened without replacing with a 12 bolt or 9"?

It can, but it is a waste of money, unless it is an auto, you might get some more out of it then.

I'd save the coin and buy a real rear. Granted my 10 bolt broke once only cutting 1.4x 60 ft's.

you can build a 9" for 1500. A 10 bolt is a waste

Depending on how hard you want to launch, a $150 TA cover is a small price to pay for piece of mind.
