Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 - why is a 25th bird a 4th gen?

always wondered why a 25th bird was a 4th gen unlike my 25th maro thats a 3rd gen?

probably because the 25th aniv. pontiac is a trans am, not a firebird. the 25th camaro was the 25th aniv. from 1967, which is 1992. the 25th trans am is from 69, so its a 1994, hence 4th gen.

trans ams did come out untill 1969 so 25 yrs later its 1994 if it was a 25th firebird it would have been a 1992 altho im not sure if they made a 25th firebird

All the Anniversary 'birds were Trans Ams.
