Question about rear brake hose.

Default Question about rear brake hose.

Ill be removing my 10 bolt soon to sand blast and paint it. What would be the best way to seal up the brake line when I remove the rear T hose that goes to the rear? I dont want it dripping fluid then running the reservoir dry. I thought about putting a vacuum cap over it but im sure that will prob still leak.

Why do you want to sand blast it? Is it already half painted?

Huah??? Most all f-body rears I seen were all rusty looking ill see if I can find a picture of mine.

Thats what I thought you were going to say.
You dont need to sand blast it, or even remove it from the car if you dont want to.
I painted mine on jackstands with POR-15, and it looks beautiful...
Come down to the meets on friday nights and check mine out if you want.

Here is one I took when it was getting moisture underneath in storage which pissed me off but you get the picture of the rusty 10 bolt lol. Other then that its pretty clean underneath and soon ill be putting new polished exhaust on so its a good time to pull it and paint it.

I sand blasted the one on my 90 it wasnt bad and got it really clean. I alrdy ordered some por15. I cant go to every friday meet cause I have to work every other friday and the one in 2 weeks I prob wont be there cause im going to start tearing it down and getting everything installed.

pull the cailpers off tshhe rotor and use wire to hang them in the wheel well, leave the brake system in the car when you remove the rear....

Damn good idea didnt even think of that 1.
I will be pulling the hoses later though cause I got earls lines but that still might be the best thing to do.

Yeah, mine looked exactly like that... I really doubt you will need to do any sand blasting unless you have heavy, flaky rust. Just de-grease it real good and paint it with POR. It will look powdercoated when your done.
If you do blast it, make sure you get all the prep products from POR cause it wont stick if there isnt any rust...

It should stick good to the rough metal. I always wipe things down with a prep b4 I paint them.

POR is not like regular paint. According to the site, it either has to be rusted, or you have to prep it with thier Metal Ready....

(METAL-READYTM to both neutralize any rust and etch any clean bare metal. This will allow better adhesion of POR-15® or any other paint.)

Its just there form of prep something else to sell you as long as the surface is free of rust and prepped it should stick. The metal will essentially already be etched also after blasting. A wire brush also makes the surface too smooth and paint does not stick well at all.
