Talking Whats the right selling price for 01 SS w/408?

Well, after much debate and thinking for months, I decided Im going to put my car for sale. Just dont know how much is a good price. When I went a while back to the dealer they told me $10,000 with no regards to the mods and had bald tires. I almost got a C6 then, but I spent well over $10,000 getting my 408 which just left a sour taste in my mouth. So, still looking to get into a C6. Here is a quick rundown.

-108,000 miles
-10,5000 miles on engine: LME 408 Longblock(never sprayed I guess thats a good thing now.)
-Full Exhaust and other supporting mods
-Cloth interior, Hardtop, New Tires
-Worn Suspension and Brakes
-Needs clutch upgraded/replaced
-The inside could use a some shampoo and some wax on the outside.

I would like to fix the brakes and change the clutch, but after thinking about it, I dont want to throw anymore money into it. Thats the whole idea of getting rid of it. It still has lots of room for performance mods and improvment besides the engine, which I rather just sell now and move on. A will probably through in a set of Z06 wheels and TSP TD exhaust. With the base C6's now being powered by an LS3, Im looking at getting sometime at the end of the year. So I would like to sell my car sooner than later. What is a good price for it without being to greedy? Something fair to the seller and the buyer.

Just throw something out there. What would you pay for it?

depends who you sell to. a car-savvy person would probably give you around 12,000, but someone that doesnt care about a 408 might not even give you 8k. but with worn parts, value goes down. i think if you clean it up perfect and get it to tip top shape, then you could get 14 out of it.

A 408 SS w/ 10k on the motor. I'd say low twenties. That's what I would put it up for.

I disagree 8K especially is way to low. Car stock would maybe be worth 11-12K. A new 408 costs what about 7-8K. 20K is too high; 12K is too low. Shoot for the upper half of that range (16-17K).

I paid 18.5k for mine. 12k on the motor and rear end (9''), and 20k on the tranny rebuild. Depending on how nice the car is, you might ask in the 20s to start with.

I havent seen any LS1's go for that kind of price. Its not ragged out as you might be thinking. Just saying a little detail could fluff it up a bit. As for me, I will always be willing to pay that extra money for an original SS as it is definately more admirable. Its an SS.

Generally, you won't get the 10K you spent on the engine. 14 to 16K sounds correct. I would skip the clean up a wise buyer will see through that. The car is what it is. It has a race engine. That is what makes it different. Add value to the car by confirming the performance of the car. Many tracks will mention your car during test and tune. Take it there with signs. Also take it any local speed shop, they normally have a board they will let you post to.

Had to go, customer on the lot. I wanted to flip it to one of my team members. Dealership is giving away hundreds of dead presidents, I want my share. OFF TOPIC

Consider a trade. Unless you have a cash buyer you have a car you want to sell that doesn't book out. Meaning it's worth less than the bank is willing to lend against it.

Do you have any friends in the banking business? Go see them!
