Finishing up my head swap and saw this little bitch in the back, its on the same harness as the fuel injectors on the driver side about 4 inches down from the last injector plug in the back...wtf is this thing for? were does it connect? does it look like theres another half to it thats broke off?

Looks like what is left of a lug for the ground strap that goes to the head.

im thinking the same thing theres suspose to be 3 ground wires that go to the back of the head and that looks like one thats missing the eyelet. how many did you re-attach?

the knock sensor harness is the blue one already connected behind the one hes pointing to

now that i see again i see that he is pointing to that not the sensor in the back, yep that does look like the head ground.

I plugged in 2 straps on the driver side only, none on the passenger, I've been having toruble with the car running right the last few months, since before winter, and I bet that little peice of **** it why !!!

id put money on it then if the cars running funny to boot. all 3 wires go to that one bolt on the drivers head. attach a new eyelet and see if it clears up

Measure resistance to ground if you get in the 0 range good bet it's a ground.

Rezero your meter, but it sounds like you just found a disconnnected ground!

its a brand new blue-point meter

Measure it for any voltage when the car is running.

If it is anywhere near 12 volts, I could be wrong, but I say it is a broken ground cable.

Just because I say so doesn't make it so

yeah, unfortchunatly I am away from home untill friday so I cant check and I had to focus on getting my driver side head back off before I had to leave since I found out the threads for the spark plug in Cyl #8 were all fucked up. Of course I didnt find out untill I was basically completly done.

I think it has changed from year to year but I just hooked the wires back to my 2001 head and there were 3 ground wires. Two on one bolt high and close to the intake and another by itself on the lower bolt to the outside of the head. All incredibly hard to get to even with the manifold removed and heads moved forward.
