Finally go the Heads and cam in!
After two and a half weeks of screwing around I finally got my heads and cam package installed. Fired up on the first try. Its loud as hell, since I still need to put a piece of pipe between the Y and the muffler. It runs awesome and has a really nice lope to it. Next weekend were heading to the track to see what I can do for times .

Yeah the 10 bolt is still there , but at least I put a girdle on it; so hopefully I will has a little bit longer. 12 bolt is in the plans, probably next summer if this one holds up.

I did the install myself. It took about 7, 8-10 hour days to get it all in (first time I took one of these apart). the only real problem we had was getting the new oil pump installed other than that, it wasn't that bad. ls1howto.com is your friend. I had to go back and reference there many times. The only thing I really need to do now, is get it to a dyno, since its running on a mail order tune right now. The only problem is the clostest dyno is over 200 miles away from me.

edit:according to ls1howto and using the higher end of the times alloted it should take at most 25 hours...were you working by yourself or something?

good cam selection, i have the same one. and don't let those numbers scare you, he said it was his first time doing something like that... i did mine with a buddy who has good LSX camswap knowledge, we started mine at 8pm on a friday, and had it done by sunrise. but then again i wasn't doing heads too, i would imagine a complete head/cam swap will take a healthy portion of a weekend... nothing too bad.

Agreed, you get faster every time. Took me a long while my first time. Now my buddy and I can pop them in and have the car runnin in about 6-7 hours. Thats without air and no lift.

I'll be intrested to see track times and dyno#'s. My new project will be pretty similar to yours when it's done in about a month.
And if I your not going to have a 12 bolt until next summer... I would leave softly if I were you

+1 on leaving softly. I will try to get a vid or sound clip of it. Right now I have to jack it up and inspect the drive line. I had it wide open the other day, and went to shift from 2 to 3 at about 5 or 5.5K, but hit 1st instead . There was one hell of a loud bang and tire smoke, but got the clutch in quickly. Motor still has excellant oil pressure, still drives fine, and has no fluid leaks. I'm more worried about cracking the ring gear, or ******* up one of the yokes on either end of the drive shaft.
