Default Recommend me a conversion

So I'm def gonna do a conversion. LOVE my LS1, but want a more agile car.

So i need recommendations. I'm basically looking for a car that can be had for less than $5000. My requirements is that it is as light as possible (less than 2500 lbs) and is a two seater. A roadster is preferable, but not required. The lighter/cheaper, the better.

The two that pop into mind are a mazda miata and a datsun 240z. I've also thought of a cobra kit car and a BMW z3, but those are too expensive.

Are there any others i should be considering?

I think a mustang is a bit over his weight...

Yes a FB or FC generation rx-7 can be had for extremely cheap and are very inexpensive to swap a engine into.
