Finally got me a radar detector!
Well its on its way!
Ordered one up from Dino at Revextreme on a sale. Says he is getting in a shipment Wednesday and I should see it a week after that. Went with the new Escort 9500i, suppose to be the latest and greatest out there.
Will be my first one ever, interested to see how this thing works.
If anyone else is looking for one or any other Escort radar detector for that matter can PM DinoZ for some pricing.

You'll wonder why you've ever driven without one.
Mine saves my *** almost daily. I've had an escort model of some kind for the last 20+ years. That new 9500i sure looks sweet. A buddy of mine just got one and is now giving me **** about my dinosaur era 8500 X50 model.

i'm thinkin down the road about replacing the SR1 (which has given me quite a few false laser readings as of late anyways) with the escort laser shifter system and tie it into a 9500 for the radar and extra features it offers over the all in one custom install. escort is always a good choice even though i've glancfer at a V1 a couple times.

Yeah, I'm not using one right now and have to stick to the speed limit Just kidding... With all of the speed traps they've been running lately I try not to speed anyway...

It payed for itself within the first week. Not to mention ive been hit with laser twice in the last week (damn motorcycle cops) and it saved me both times.

V1 here. Love the counter and the arrows. And no matter what you end up with it WILL pay for itself in no time. Speed traps are becoming more common all the time.

Bel STI here because we are not supposed to have radar detectors in VA
It supposedly is the stealthiest on the market for radar detector detectors
saves my *** multiple times daily...

My brakes will love me for it. My eyes keep getting worse and I just need to go to the optomitrist, but everytime I pass someone or exceed the speed limit more than usual and see an Impala or Crown Vic I panic and will try to slow down without dynamiting the brakes. Same goes for some cars at night.
Make sure to ask DinoZ about prices when you look at getting one Ellis, he can give you a bit of a price drop with shipping included.

The new 9500i has some fancy GPS system thingy and can learn locations, so when you pass by the grocery store the door there wont set it off after a while when it has "learned" its signal.

Some will argue they love the arrows of the V1, I say BS.....
if it goes off, slow down I don't care if he is left or right..
That said, I have no false alarms and would recommend the STI to anyone.

Arrows on the V1 are more for front/rear than sides. And yes, they will hit you from behind in this state.
I have NEVER had mine go off "all the time." I run it on full logic mode and it has never let me down. Most of the problems with the V1 in tests have been because the testers don't know how to use them. (There is no city/highway switch for example, just 3 "logic" modes. Just read the damned manual.)
Mike Valentine created the Escort in 1978 at Cincinati Microwave. (I have owned several of these models over the years. But then Cincinati Microwave sold out to BEL in the late '80s/early '90s and Mike Valentine started his own company and has been selling his radar detectors under his name, the Valentine One, ever since.

Sort of on the same topic here; Just a heads up, but in eastern Washington/Oregon, they use airplanes, and your fancy radar detectors don't do ****. They time the cars between the white lines painted perpendicular to the roads, then calc your speed based on time/distance.
