Default Black smoke! Need help Bay area

Black smoke help,
Ok, when I punch it my buddy said he sees black smoke
From the Exhaust, So I took it to my normal Mechanic
He said the car doesn’t sound right and maybe running to rich, so
I take the car to synergy (Rick) he said your car is running fine.

Don’t know what to do
Any Ideas

P.s I think Rick hates me and doesn’t want to fix my car,
Is there any other place to take the car for tuning in the bay
and is good at it

Is the smoke Black or A blueish tint?

You can take it to Doug Rippe Motorsports, have you made any changes to the car recently? Take some Brake Clean and clena your maf too.

My car throws black smoke between shifts at WOT. I'm pretty sure it's nothing major or that a tune won't fix.

i havent personally seafomed my car but its basiclly a name of a product that you use and you pour 1 can into your gas tank to clean out your injectors and what not from over the years and another can into your oil and brake booster hose to clean out all the carbon build up and what not. that might be all it needs is a good cleaning. i just saw some seafoam at kragens today for $7 a can. search "seafoam" in the search

My car does it to... If its a lot I might worry but it just sounds like a minor output of smoke.

How many miles are on your car? Its an 01 right? My father owns an 01 SS, and has the same situation. 01 cars were known to have bad rings and therefore burn oil. On our 01 car you can clean the exhaust tips, drive for a day and they will be black inside again. Also at WOT it will puff blk smoke in between shifts. But the car runs great overall and has never really given us any problems. Also ours has 130k on it! So im thinking this could possibly be your problem.

It may be running a little rich but that's better than runnig a little lean. Most shops will leave a car a little on the rich side when they tune it. Unless you're DUMPING out black smoke at WOT I wouldn't worry about it. It's pretty normal between shifts, especially after doing headers and Y pipe. If it's really bothering you, you could change the plugs and see if it helps.

have u check your oil lately. any oil consumption issues? I live in newark which is very close to fremont. Whats ur a/f ratio from your tune. Puff of black smoke usually means running pig rich. Burning oil should have a bluish tint to it.

Seafoam is ****... It's a big as smoke show and it's NOT going to fix the problem of you blowing black smoke out your exhaust, period. I honestly doubt it does anything useful but will say it sure as hell is going to fix a problem like yours.

Change your front O2s to some Denso's and throw some new sparkplugs in... That will probably take care of it... If not you need to have your tune looked at.

Did he give you a basis? Black smoke is a sign you are running rich, which is not as bad as running lean by a long shot. Can you be a little more specific in the problems you are having with the car that is causing concern for you?

Are you currently running a tune? Have you put it on a dyno recently? O2 sensors throwing any codes?
