Default Transmission temp. guage

I was wondering where to put the bung for the temp. part of the guage. I thought you had to weild it to the pan but this says different......

That's the easiest place to mount it, simply replace the plug with your gauge sending unit. Some argue that it isn't the best place for consistent readings, and that either in the pan or a "T" fitting in the cooler line is best. I mounted mine in the pressure port like the link you posted, and my gauge reads within 5*F of what the PCM sees (verified with HPTuners)......that's good enough for me.
