383 lt1 5.7 or 6.0 rods
what is the main difference in selecting a stroker kit. they offer 5.7 inch rods and 6.0 inch rods. i am looking at making 500hp. what is the best kit for 500hp

If it's going to be an all natural motor with maybe an occasional 150-175hp shot of nitrous then the 6" rod with short light piston is good to have. The Mahle 6" rod 383 stroker flat top piston is great for something like that, (1.125" compression height). The oil rings are still not in the piston pin boss with that piston.
If you are thinking of turbo or blower then a piston with the ring package further away from the pitson top is a good idea and that almost always requires a shorter rod. So the blower piston choice is much more plentiful for 5.7" rod 383 strokers.
In a nutshell, 6" rod with short/light pitson is nice, (if you don't run too much nitrous or boost).
If you want a heavy duty blower piston then you are almost required to run a shorter rod.
