Default FAST stainless bolt kit

Hey all. Just thought Ide share. Im doing some work to my 87 TA LS1 swap. Had to pull the intake, so I thought Ide replace the bolts with new ones. The ones that were on there were rusty and ugly as you can see. So I picked up the kit from thunder racing. Alittle pricey, but DEFINETLY worth it. It came with all the bolts for the intake, even the throttle cable bracket, as well as the bolts for the NW throttle body. Everything was perfect.

Anyway, onto some pics. I have things apart, but you'll get the idea of how it cleans things up...

Rusty bolts...

New stuff...

Yeah thats what I thought... Its not a major change or anything. But rust under the hood just isnt attractive at all. Even a little bit of it... I also relocated my EVAP solenoid, and built a braided stainless line with Russell fittings for my fuel line. So that will clean things up alittle too. Brighten it up..

One of our best sponsers Thunder Racing. Here is the link...

http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=3&pcid=177

It is down at the bottom of the FAST list...stainless bolt kit.

I have gotten a few things from TR lately and Im always 100% satisfied. They ship fast, the pack well, and their customer service is great.

I was just happy to see that all the bolts were included. Like all the intake bolts. The TB bolts. Even the throttle cable bracket and fuel rail bolts...which arent pictured.

would have done the same...except to replace all, and the washers, and the nuts, the cost was maginal. Plus...I couldnt find the 110mm long main bolts that go through to the head. I certainly couldnt find them in the allen head bolts... I like the look of these bolt heads as opposed to regular hex heads.

But cool that you were able to find what you needed and did it that way!

If you mean the thread size, they are all M6x1.0mm... If you mean the lengths, the only ones I remember are the long ones. They are 110mm. As for the others, Im not sure. I threw the paper away.

Here are a couple other shots of the throttle bracket in place and one of the fuel rail stand offs...

I'm going to assume the kit doesn't come with the valley cover bolts, eh?

Nope. No valley cover bolts. The fast intake comes with those special button head bolts. Cant really see any but those front ones...and since you dont really NEED button heads there because the intake isnt over that area, you could just use a regular stainless bolt. Or a allen head to match the intake.

Yeah, but I bought my intake used and it didn't come with those. I don't really care if those are stainless or not.

Well, I see that thunder racing also sells a FAST intake hardware kit. I assume its all the hardware that comes with the intake itself. So atleast you'd have the valley bolts and new intake bolts...although not stainless.

But I dont see why you couldnt find those button heads in a hardware store. Just pull one out and match the thread size and length of the bolt. My local ACE has those smooth button heads Im almost positive..

not really for stainless... The 10 main intake bolts are over 4" long. i couldnt even find them in a local hardware store. Next time you are at a store that sells stainless allen heads, add them up. There are 10 at 110mm, 6 for the front and rear that have nuts on the buttom, 5 for the throttle body, 4 for the fuel rails, 2 for the throttle cable bracket...and thats it I think. So like 24 stainless bolts, add washers and nuts for most of them, and tax, and see how much it comes to. Its a pretty fair price if you ask me, more so because it was a very convient kit. All the sizes you need, all the nuts, all the washers with directions telling you which bolts go where.

Ide buy it again..
