Default Can my fuddle stall really be this Ineffiecent???

Well I went and got dynoe'd today...
I didn't like the numbers but I guess my fuddle 3800 stall is eating quite abit of hp. The dyno guy said the car sounds very healthy and pulls strong from what he could tell.... my numbers...

318.94rwhp.
301.49tq. It looks from the sheet that he stopped at around 5850-5900 rpm's. but I thought it said 6,000 on the computer...

old numbers w/ headers 2400 stall and cai was

258.96rwhp
292.09tq.

so 60hp. gain with h/c,injectors,t.b. and a couple of other things...
could my stall be eating up 40-50 hp on the dyno

it feels very strong... guess I have to wait until the track tomorrow if it doesn't rain. or on fri. eve...

Plus I know I have a bigger cam, and it was still gaining on hp.. just didn't want to rev. too high with the stock bottom end, and around 171,000 miles...

I'll put up the sheet as soon as I can find the camera

red is from 2005 headers/ehxuast/cai/2400 tci stall...

can you tell if it locks up from looking at the graph...

60hp from heads and cam on a LT1 is not that bad. It is very unlikely that the converter is eating up 40-50 hp.

How does the car run at the track?

To see converter efficency you would need to have a graph locked and unlocked. If the converter was locked and not sliping then the converter would have no affect on the numbers, But real gains are determined at the track not on the dyno

Like said above, there is not way to tell convertor effieciency with out locking it and making a pull vs. unlocked. Who cares about dyno numbers? My dyno numbers are horrible, but ET is where its at. Dynos are tuning tools.

That's still a lot of slip, my Fuddle 3500/2.0 pulled in to under
350RPM TCC slip at 6000RPM motor, fairly low mods at the
time but 300+ lb-ft at least. Do you have a slip log in Excel
I could look at showing TCC slip RPM or shaft speeds and
engine RPM?

My (6000-340)/6000 is about 95% efficient; (6000-1000)/6000
more like 86% (assuming no torque mult still happening).

No I don't have a log like that, my car being a 93' does not have the 4L60E, just the 4L60, so tranny is not computer controlled... I have a autoxray scanner/datalogger, but it doesn't cover the tranny... it does tell me if the tcc is locked I believe, I'll look again...

I have a Fuddle 3800 2.1 str..............don't worry about the dyno#s.
Mine dynos at 430hp/471 tq, BUT...........with a race weight at the line of 3680#s with me in it and a full tank of gas it runs 10.82@125+ with a 1.47 60'. You can do the math of the power needed to accelerate that much weight

The red is a typical unlocked graph and the blue is locked.

Do you have a manual lockup switch installed? Because otherwise the converter unlocks at WOT. You have a converter built to hold at WOT also. You can not lock any converter at WOT and expect it to hold.

Do you know if the dyno operator uses bidi control. Better still, ask if he locked it.

I picked up 40rwhp by ditching my fuddle! So yeah i would say that your fuddle could be ineffiecent just from personal experiences.

I'll have to ask him... he didn't say anything about the stall, just that he thought that it was eating alot of power on the dyno, but he thought it would kill at the track...

plan on going tomorrow if it dosen't rain...

if the numbers are not right, then out it comes and hello vig 3600...

Oh yeah I don't know if he locked it, but all I seen him hook up was the 02' in the tailpipe. and the hookup on my coil wire to get the rpm's... he did not plug into my obd1 or anything else... so maybe he didn't...

If you only care about dyno #'s go back to a stock convertor. If you want good times at the track, don't change until you see what performance you get.

Yeah nothing is certain until I see the numbers, I really went to check my a/f. which was 13.0 all across...

so we'll see how she does... going against my buddy who also has a 93' ta that pulled 380 on the dyno with LE2 and a midwest 3200 stall, now he has a yank ss4000 so I'll see how she hangs...
