Default what is a better car

A 1999 SS camaro A4 or a 2002 Z28 A4. The price is the same, is the SS package worth that much. I know it is just looks mainly. I drove both and the 2002 is quite a bit quicker. What are your thoughts. Thanks, Jared

I thought it was only a certain low percentage that actually got the LS6 block. And its not really "better" anyways.

+1 on LS6 intake though.

I would go with the one with the least miles and the cleanest condition. if youre mainly looking for the one with best hp, I think they average about the same because the z-28 has the ls6 intake and the ss has forced induction. If u get the z-28 make sure u get the cold induction it will make up for the ss hood. But if I were u I would look for a m6, an m6 will beat both with a decent driver.

Uhhh... NO.

A. The SS does not have "forced induction" unless someone put a turbo or supercharger on it. You're thinking about "ram air"... but the SS doesnt have that ether, the hood on the SS is non functional.

B. Even a functional ram air hood is not worth the money (at least from a performance point of view), "ram air" is basicly a myth.

Exactly

the changes are pretty mild.

the 02 has an ls6 intake sure, but it's also got a smaller cam.

Each year has an up and down side. None of them matter enough to be that picky about the year, only one even semi an issue is the 98s.

I say get the better shape car.

first off, a non-functional hood means that either the sccop is closed off or there is no sealed path for it to lead into the air box.

secondly, such a small amount of air actually goes through that scoop, youd see a MINIMAL amount of HP increase, and no SOP increase.

Back on topic: I agree to get the car in the best shape. Dont limit yourself to choosing between these two cars. If neither is good for you then hold off and the right car will come along.

Yep, I'm alittle biased. I'll take the SS everytime. IT'S A SS!!! Dicker the price down $400 on the 99 and put a LS6 intake on it. Not that big a deal man. Your probably going to want to mod either car anyway. Might as well be a true SS.
