well I didn't post anything all last season because I had the year from absolute hell as my fellow mods will tell you all after seeing what i went through with my car last year, it was enough to make anyone want to quit racing. I did get a 10.0 out of it end of last year on the only track trip i didn't have some lame problem and not even make it off the starting line.

tonite we packed up and went to GLD. air was good, track was a bit hairy but we managed. car was DEAD consistent..made 7 passes, all of them 10.0-9.90's. we kept messing with the tune here and there and also the suspension and the rpm on the 2 step.

made most passes off the transbrake with a harlan 2 step wired to it. since really no clean passes last year it took me a few passes to get things really situated with the shiftlight, etc. and the track was kinda slippery after the 60 foot, had to do some fancy driving a few times..

Last pass of the nite we started getting somewhere as it was the best:

60 foot: 1.40
1/8:6.294
1/8mph:109.91
1/4: 9.90
MPH: 135.54

came so close to the 9.8x et and 1.3x sixty foot i was hunting for tonite, i bet we could have got it if the staging lanes hadn't closed and we couldn't run it anymore.

got some good vids..I'll see about getting the last pass posted up.

ran the car on 112 leaded, car seemed to like AFR of mid to low 11 range..new twin external fuel pump setup i built last month performed flawlessly. IAT's were awesome..120's all nite long..opening up the front bumper and me building an aluminum box to seal the intercooler to the bumper seems to have done the trick..i was seeing 50 degrees more IAT in similar weather last year..

Not sure on the boost level, never looked at the guage..but i didn't change anything from last year in that regard so 10-11 psi is all it was seeing most likely. I think I can get a 9.70 out of the car the way it sits without hunting for more boost, etc.

Nice runs guy. Glad to see that it ran well enough to get into the 9's. You'll get your times with better track conditions. Actually having to drive a car at 140 is really not that much fun. What tires are you running?

David

David--track was to the point last nite I think where a less experienced driver could have some problems..one guy actually did smash into the wall when he didn't lift when he should have. I had to abort one run when the car got really stupid right out of the 60 foot on me. I'm running 28X10.5 et drags at the moment, not W's, just regulars.

thanks coach!

What gear do you run in the rear?

SilverGhost

3.73 and a 28" tire, keeps the RPM's pretty reasonable, along with a tighter power adder converter like i have..

Awesome runs, beautiful car. I'll bet it's a real treat to drive a 9 second car around on the street, isn't it?

What was the raceweight? Great times man!

SilverGhost

yup, this car is a ton of fun on the street even with a 93 octane tune in it, and i drive it everywhere and anywhere with no problems. i take it to work on mondays alot of times when its nice out and my buddy and i take the car to lunch when i do.

still haven't weighed it, but it can't be less than 3450 with me in it and i weigh 205 so the car isn't super light. i'm pretty happy to run what it did at that weight with only 10 PSI of boost. really not leaning that hard on this thing in all reality.

we have a few ideas on how to go a good bit faster but i'm lazy and have been busy having fun instead of turning wrenches:D after last year i'm just glad the car is running well, is reliable, and fun to drive.

That is awsome man. Glad you are happy and everything is finally working together. I am working out my bugs now so I can feel the same way (though I am not near your level). How do you like the TH400 on the track and street? Do you drive it to the track? What kind of MPG do you get? I am betting you don'y really care, but these gas prices have me concerned with my budget.

SilverGhost

no i don't it to the track anymore, stopped doing that when the car got more complicated with the blower and fuel system setup, etc.

i like the 400. the first 400 swap i did in the car in 2002 was for n/a..loose converter, big gear..that i didn't like, too much rpmm driving around. this time when i did the 400 swap again i knew i was aiming for power adder, so its fine driving around with this gear and tire and tighter converter. car is fun. mpg isn't anything i pay any attention to with this car:)

so what stall speed did you go with?

SilverGhost

converter is a 4500 made by Hughes. i've been real happy with it so far..
