I know i'm a newb, but not sure where to post this. Here's the deal, have a car for sale locally for $5600 a 92 z28. Have someone come look at it would like to take it for a test ride. Now mind you the car is off the road, no plates. So I say ok, and go with him figured we could go around the block maybe 2 miles total. Well everything goes well he gets on it a little no big deal. Go to pull out to head back to my house he gets on it good in 1st power shifts to 2nd, bang, and its like he slammed on the brakes except he didn't touch the brakes. Turns out I think he blew the tranny. Now i'm kind of in a bind for money, and he pretty much blew my chance at selling this car unless I dump $2000 into to have the tranny replaced. Do I have any course of action??? There was no signs of trans problems before this, in fact I had taken the same around the drive block before of course without powershifting. Anyone else have this happen to you and what did you do if anything about it.

Any answers are appreciated.

No, You Are Screwed. Since You Never Completed A Sale It Is On You. If He Drove The Car, Made A Offer And Exchanged Money Then It Is On Him.

that sucks, all you can do is be upset about it and fix the problem, then sell the car for more since its got a brand new tranny, or whatever the problem turns out to be

Well unless you at least wrote up something for him to sign then your outta luck really i think, especially since it has no plates/ins like you say. Would have been smart to write up an agreement before you let him drive it.

5,000 for a 92? wow thats pricey

So I guess what you are saying is if someone test drives a car they aren't responsible for anything that breaks, regardless of how they drive it??

Thanks for the answers guys. Honestly I was just going to let it go because sh*t happens but then wasn't sure if someone has had this happen before and they did something about it.

Dont drop 2k on a new tranny.

Buy a used one. You can probably find someone selling one for 1/4 that cost.
