Hey everyone. I didnt know exactly where to post this, so mods, feel free to move it if necessary.

First off, I did my cam swap back in december, and with that i replaced all the water pump gaskets, and of coarse filled it back up with coolant. Everything had been fine up until now.
A couple days ago, i get into the car and the low coolant light was on. So i proceed to pop the cap, and sure enough it was low(not TOOOO low, but it did need a little added). So i filled it up, and probably drove in for 100 miles after that. Today I went to get in the car, and the low coolant light was on again. I pop the cap, and it was low. So i filled it up, but now i cant help but wonder if theres a problem.
There are NO leaks, and all the hoses are in good shape. Im pretty sure its not a head gasket because my power is strong, and Im not having any problems with overheating.

Anybody have any clue what it could be? Do you think there was just a air pocket in there from when i filled it the first time? Thanks for any help.

P.S. Im going to go ahead and pull a couple plugs tomarrow to see if theres any coolant on them. But i would love some other suggestions in the mean time.

how many times have you had to top it off. These were the first two times for me since my cam swap back in december.

Possibly the heater core. Check to see if the front passenger side carpet is wet. That's where coolant goes when you can't seem to see a visual leak.

Is the exhaust smoking white or smeel like coolant?

Nope, carpet isnt wet and no weird exhaust color or smell.

did you fill the coolant back up with the engine running? you may still have air watch your temp gauge and check the resevoir when your thermostat opens. (not at the cap though at the resevoir haha) the radiator and resevoir may be full when the thermostat is closed but there could be air in the heads/block.

try doing what i said. also with the car off or on, take the cap off and squeeze your upper radiator hose. if you see bubbles you have air.

Well I found out where it was going. After a little driving, the coolant seems to be coming out of the resevior at the top, with the dipstick where you check the level. What would cause this. Like i said, Ive had NO problems with the car overheating, so i know its not from the coolant getting to hot, and boiling up. Do you think there is an air pocket somewhere? And if so, how would an air bubble just form, after nearly six months after the cam swap.

Do a leak down test on the engine and radiator

Coolant bubbles out of the reservoir when your engine overheats. Your coolant temp sensor may be messed up and not giving you the right temp. In turn your fans may not come on when they should, causing your engine to overheat and spill coolant. Or you could have a sticking t-stat that caused it to overheat and spill coolant and now you also have an air pocket. First, just make sure your fans turn on.

didn't someone have this problem, and it was due to accidentally switching the two small hoses that go to near the radiator cap?

I would have to say possibly you still have an air pocket in the coolant system and its slowly making its way out to the top. Hopefully thats all it is.

I have the same problem and havent fiqured it out yet. but i havent drove my car in few weeks so i dont know if its still doing it.

Ive never had any problems with the car overheating. And i think the dummy 99+ gauge will still show if the car is overheating. And the coolant isnt bubbling out the resevior, its just slowing pooring out of it-sometimes it will even do it on a short trip before the car even reaches full operating temp.

give me the worst news it could be. Its not a head gasket-i pulled the plugs, they are clean, and theres no weird exhaust color or smell. The oil is still clean on the dipstick. If it doesnt any more, ill completely drain the oil.

Ill check tomarrow to make sure the fans are coming on. Do you know what temp they come on? I still have the stock T-stat.

check the waterpump gaskets, I have replaced them after chasing the same issue on a 5.3L , The coolant dries up before it drips to the ground . It took about 4 days to turn the light on.
