ABS and traction cont. lights
my girl has an 01 c5 that every once in awhile the abs and trac. control lights come on at startup. you shut it down and restart and they do not come back on. anyone else had this happen and if so what did you find to be the problem? also, the pass. side window works when it wants to and the pass side door lock switch always works, anyone had an issue with this?

Mine did that sporadically a couple of times then went away for several months before returning. This time it wouldn’t go away. The EBCM had shorted internally. Replacement cost $870. Hopefully that isn’t your issue.

Dont need a scanner you can pull them up on the dash. Just turn the ingnition on hold the (options) button and press the (fuel) button 4 times. It will run through all the systems and show any codes.

thanks alot mike, you just increased my workload. there were 10 codes total thrown. most were battery issues which have been taken care of, a few loss of communication with bcm which i hope was because of the battery situation, then the tire pressure monitor which i knew was a problem and one that threw me was c1214 which said it was a solenoid valve/relay open. not sure what that one is if anyone can elaborate please do. and mike, that is a great tool man that should go underneath the sticky for diagnostic codes man, great info, thanks!!

Just to add on a bit here is a place I visit for finding out what my codes are. Please excuse me for not providing a direct link. http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm
That will give you a basic overview. They have almost all the codes listed there. I think if your car is post/2000 there are a couple codes not shown on this page.
