Default Flying to LG Motorsports in 2 days

The long wait is nearly over. I have been waiting for 2 1/2 long weeks since my car was finished due to not being able to get time off from work to go pick it up. Anyways if everything goes as scheduled I'll be at LG Motorsports on Wednesday 5/9/07 around 5 pm sitting in the driver seat of my car getting ready to drive it for the first time since September 2006. I can't wait. All the extra power under the curve from the new cam, and better drivability. Can't wait to see for myself. Its tough having Bobby at LG Motorsports call you up and say "Doug I just got done driving your car, she drives better then last year." My mouth is watering. LOL >> Anyways I can't wait for the 1200 mile drive home. Should be fun considering I haven't drove the car in such a long time.

1200 miles all highway + 481 rwhp / 454 rwtq = Killer Road trip !!

I wonder if I will see the 34+ mpg that I did last year??

Sounds like an awfully fun trip and in a monster car. At 100 mph that 481 hp should feel awfully good!

What took them so long to get it ready? September until now?

I wouldn't count on 34 mpg with that big cam. But let us know.

I probably saw your car up there. I know how excited you must be. LG is a great bunch; they are helping me on a project right now we are doing to my Trans Am. Top Secret you know! In a little while, few weeks, she should be ready after tuning. Enjoy the "newly improved" ride and watch those cops!

They picked up the car at the end of March this year because they were going to be in Chicago dropping off 2 cars. So it made sense to kill 2 birds with one stone. Saved me a couple of dollars too. I also told them to take their time (no rush, bad weather in Michigan) because we originally thought I would need a new short block. Lucky for me Louis was able to go in there and take care of the coolant consumption issue and bring my engine back to life better then ever (saved me a ton of money).

Last year I had the g5x3 cam in and this year the cam is a little bigger plus running a ported 90 mm FAST and 90 mm t/b. The cam shouldn't kill my gas mileage on the eway, only when I put my foot into it. I made it home last year (1200 miles) on just under 35 gallons. That's over 34 mpg. All highway with cruise set at 80 mph in 6th gear. The 3.42 rear gear is great for gas mileage, and still lets you get up and go outta the hole too.

Back to the cam idea, I thought when I jumped from stock to the g5x3 my gas mileage would be in the *******. Only in the city, or when you put your foot to the floor. Cams don't kill gas mileage, a heavy right foot does. Anyways Larry, I will post up in new thread after I get back my opinions of the job done on my car. Idle, WOT, and overall drivability. Also gas mileage, and whatever else I can think of that may be pertinent.

I am glad you liked it. I have yet to hear my car with the new cam and ported intake. Bobby tried to put a cell phone out by the dyno but to much interference. Can't wait to see/hear her on the dyno myself.

Stay tuned for a post detailing the trip home. My impressions of the idle, wot, and overall drivability. Going to be different riding on NON runflat tires. Probably be able to get a little input from the road. Those runflats are nice but tooooo hard to get any feel of the road, and noisy. Not that you can hear the tires over my exhaust. LOL Thanks to everyone for posting/commenting.

Thanks for the invite, but we'll be going up 55 through Illinois and then headed East into Michigan back to the Burbs of Detroit.

Tomorrow is the big day! I didn't realize LG was in Texas. Better come by Sugar Land and give me a ride in that hot rod. I'm only about 300 miles south of Wylie. That's only 600 miles out of your way. LOL!

Let us know how it turns out for you. Wish you the best of luck for results of the car and a safe trip back.
