Default Any homeowners in Central TX have any problems with scorpions?

Hey Guys, I just recently moved into a new house (northside of San Antonio) and some of the neighbors are finding scorpions in their houses. A few buddies that live in the area have also had issues with them. Do any of you have experience on the issue? I can either try to do all the exterminating myself, or hire a company to do it for me. Any thoughts?

I would recommend keeping unscreened windows and doors shut as much as possible. Dont forget, they are attracted to heat sources. We found one sleeping on a battery charger in my buddy's garage.

We used to for a couple of years. We finally sprayed for them and haven't seen any for a while. Its a tedious tough process but can be done...

Keep in mind they are closely related to spiders if you try on your own.
And if they are attracted to heat, you could possibly put a heated bug zapper thing on the ground. Plus you might catch a squirrel for dessert.

I have a good friend who lives north of SA off of 281 near the river. Scorpions are a way of life there.

Not sure what he does to combat them. I just know not to leave clothing on the floor and always check your shoes before putting them on.

I had a gf, who had them always falling and/or crawling out of the AC vents in the winter time, sometimes we would see em on the ceiling or wall, othertimes we would just see em when they would fall from the vent/or ceiling.

They sprayed the attic and house for them three times in one year, (professionals came out ) and that eventually got rid of them.

A friend said if you put cedar out in the yard and around the yard that they dont like. Also try some of the electronic things that emit high frequency.

lots of bugs don't like cedar chips. I know it keeps ticks and fleas away too. And those high frequency things don't work. A nearby parking garage has one to keep away birds, but they built a bunch of nests right next to it anyways. Do arachnids even hear high-pitch noises well?
