Default Drove my first Z06 - WOW!!

First of all, no one could love their TA more than I love mine. It is the perfect combo for DD, track days, turning heads, ease of modding for newbies. That being said . . . .

Knowing that all the things I need to do to my car to make it better for Road Atlanta track days has already been done via a Z06, plus the fact my wife hates my TA, I have been thinking about getting a Z06(with her blessing). So today I drove my first one - stock EB 2002 with 20k mi. Just cannot believe how different it is. It was quieter, smoother, definitely quicker and more. The interior was not as cramped, easier to get in and out of, no 550lb door to close. But driving was a whole different feel. Maybe it was the lighter weight with the extra power, a much more refined ride. Not what I was expecting at all. I was expecting something like the '85 vette I used to have. The Z was all stock including the wheels, so it didn't have the presence of the TA, but it wouldn't take much.

As I stopped and got gas for the TA on the way home, it looked intimidating under the lights, so it would be hard to get rid of her. So for now, I will just get a Z06 and keep them both until I know which one has to go. Just can't get over how different it was from the TA. Really excited about getting one now. Anyone thoughts on the two would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to sell the TA to a friend here at work who goes with me to Road Atlanta just to ride. It would be great.

Get and keep the Zo6. Make some money on TA and use the cash to mod your Zo6 for Atlanta. A good set of coilovers, full exhaust, brakes, and a cam with valvetrain upgrades, plus an LG Supercool radiator w/built in oil cooler. Add those and you'll be ready for Atlanta. Good luck.

I had a 99 FRC I Autocrossed a couple times a year. The only thing I did to it was put race tires on it (sticky Toyo's). I ran circles around the F-body's and mustangs. Now I have 02 zo6 and feels even better. I'm about to put the '04 zo6 shocks on it and be done (except for motor goodies).

I am sure it is the way to go. I am wearing the forums out looking for a Z. Just so many choices and deals. Need to get more focused on exactly what I want.

Default had em both, loved em both

So far , besides all the older Fbodies, I've had a 98 (new) and now a 99 TA.
Alsohad a new 2000 FRC Vette and a new 03 ZO6. For me the ZO6 was so much more car than the TA. Totally different to drive, but it really spoiled me. When I sold it last fall because of job worries, I "made due" with a nice black 99 TA, complete with lots of mods and about 415RWHP. Lots of folks have told me the TA looks a lot better than my "plain" silver ZO6, but for me it was a big step down. Don't get me wrong, I love the TA. Its fast, fun to drive and easy to work on. It feels heavy and cumbersome in comparison though. When the time is right, I'll buy another Vette, but I might keep the TA and really get stupid with the HP.

I'm putting my car up for sale to buy a 02-04 z06. I can't afford a $30k loan right now, plus I don't need both cars.
