Default car is sluggish on bottem end! HELP PLEASE

my car is a 1999 z-28, auto

my car feels so sluggish on the bottom end, but from mid range (40pmh plus)it pulls hard. it also is wasting lots of gas, and I mean alot, where before it would do great. now im filling up like 3-4 times a week alone! and I believe its running too rich from what ive been told. just wondering what could cause this to happen? the car has only has full exhaust, and thats it. rebuilt tranny, stock converter. what could it be??any help would be great!

thanks

also the car has 107,000 miles, has been cared for and has new msd wires and ngk tr6 plugs when the headers were done so its not that. also the car ran like this even prior to my tranny crapping out so I dont believe its the new tranny either! pleasseee help!

O2 sensors probably. Have you logged any data? You may want to try posting in the diagnostics forum. It could have something to do with your injectors or ignition system. Logging some data could really help determine what the cause is.

If you're going through that much fuel, you could be washing down cylinder walls, fouling plugs, destroying the cats/O2 sensors, etc, etc...

yes full, super unleaded $40 bux to fill up now logged data? i do have the ses light on, and ran the codes. could 02 sensors really have caused all this, and make it run rich? when it runs rich can that cause it to run alot slower on bottom end?

Hell ya...what are the codes for the SES lights? Damn...I'll use my laptop and HP Tuners to help you figure it out if it's that bad.

If your O2's are bad, you basically running in open loop, which means it's somewhat like when you first start the car up...in choke to get the car up to operating temp. Heck ya that will mean you're running rich.

Yes because it will run in limp mode aka factory speed density when the o2's die and dump more fuel then normal. You could take the sensors out and burn the tips to see if they will come back to life or swap them out. Also when you plugged in the other o2 extension are you sure you plugged it in to the right o2 harness. The front one is where it should be not the one located near the trans x-member.

I agree with pickemuptruck. You could also have a stuck injector on one bank. Which in turn goes limp mode as well, and dumps fuel to the other side. Check history codes, pull plugs, and pull O2s. Or just install 4.88s and get rid of your low end problem.

My friend has my HP Tuner cable but I can get it Saturday. I know Sunday is mother's day but I possibly could do it in the morning. I'm leaving on vacation that afternoon. Shouldn't take but a few minutes to figure out.
