Default brake vanity+inexperience=me

so i want to paint my brake calipers when i do my next brake job

but i'm newbie gear head (only 18) and i've never actually done a brake job before

also, i keep kearing these horror stories about bleeding brakes

can you guys help me out here - do you guys know of any good brake job procedures out there? what are some nuance things that people tend to over look when they're doing thier own brakes? any good tips or reminders?

also, can anybody recommend a good brand/product line of caliper paint and/or a good procedure for painting them?

thanks so much for any advise

Look here: http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...ds_mwarren.htm

What you really should avoid, if you don't want some extra fun:
- ALWAYS seal the brake line when removing the caliper, so that it won't drain the brake fluid out of the system, or you will have a lot of fun trailering your F-Body to the next dealer for a TECH2-Brake-Bleeding.
- Don't mount the calipers with the bleeders on the downside (Left caliper on the right side, etc.)
- Don't forget to grease the slider pins
- Don't forget to use thread locker on the bracket and caliper bolts
- Always fix the slider pin with a 16mm wrench, or you can turn the caliper bolts for the rest of your life...
- Don't forget to loosen the e-brake, if you want to remove the rear rotors, or you will have a lot of fun...
- Don't forget to clean the new rotors with some soap water or degreaser
- Avoid spraying brake cleaner on painted surfaces
- Avoid tilting/canting of the pistons, when pushing them inside the caliper
- Don't use the wrong brake fluid for refilling (I'm using DOT4)
- NEVER let the calipers hang on the brake hose, or you could stress them

Anything else...?

- When pressing the pistons back inside the caliper with connected brake hoses, ensure that the brake fluid does not overflow in the reservoir
- REMEMBER, when everything is finished:
You will have to press the brake pedal a few times, before the pads will have contact with the rotors and the brake will work. Ensure that the reservoir is not drained during this process

Very important: If you are not absolutely sure that you can handle this on yor own... Ask someone more experienced to help you. RELIABLE BRAKES ARE VITAL!
Safety first!

Hope that helps... Sorry for my bad english...
