Default dynamat to reduce gear whine?

has anyone tried to dynamat the hatch area in an attempt to reduce gear whine? mine is HORRIBLE (i have set them up several times, and from talking to others with 4.56's, it dont get much better than what i have ) i put the back seat back in yesterday, and that helped a bit, so i could only imagine that dynamat would drastically improve it. i just wanted some opinions before i blow more money on the car

Maybe, but if the gear whine isn't hurting anything, i'd just live with it. Dynamat is HEEEAAAVVVYYYY.

certain brands of gears just make noise.. that's fact.

though i have not dynamatted this car, it will help for sure.

thicker gear oil can help too.

well if I go with RAMMat it's only 50 lbs so it wont make much of a difference.

That's like masking a problem if you ask me.

why is that masking a problem? That's the side effects to going w/ richmonds is more whine and also having a body mounted torque arm definitely makes it a bit louder also.

Although it will help, Dynamat is less effective against high frequency noise. If you have a tunnel mount tourque arm I would also put the mat in the area around where the mount bolts up to the body. It will help with noise transmitted into the body through the torque arm mount.

I have eDead throughout my entire car, double layers in some areas, deffinately helps with outside noises so I would imagine it would take care of your whine. Putting it in my entire car added ~50lbs. Luckily, I'm not a Pro Stock driver and 50lbs doesn't really mean much to me.

if you have already had part of the interior out why not pull the carpet up and add thicker underlay? you can get it from any upholstery place and it definatelly works. we rebuilt an SS truck for my father and installed like triple thick underlay and when driving you could barely hear anything with the windows up.

that or undercoating, it will also muffle the sound a bit. you could just spray it around the rear axle and rear floor. some combination of both will probably give you more that you need.

Even though you cant hear it inside, doesn't mean you can't hear it outside....
