I drive my car on the street all the time.
When my car hits 4000-4500 it feels like someone turned on the nitrous. It pulls non stop all the way to the rev limiter at 7200.
Honestly I like that on the street. It keeps me from doing stupid sh*t. I rarely take the car above 3000 on the street, so there is little temptation to race someone or do something stupid. Don't get me wrong, the car makes 350Ft Torque at 3100 rpm, but I don't like racing on the street. I have not gone to WOT on the street in years, now a days I just spin tires, so whats the point?
I get my jollies at the track, and if I am launching at 5500-7000 and shifting at 7000rpm there is no need for me to have power at 2500. It would be totally useless to me.
On the street the car pulls hard enough and I enjoy driving it. I don't think you will ever get a power band as wide as you suggested, 2400 to 6800. Most cars that make good HP have a narrower power band.
