2001 Trans Am Headlights Question
I havent been able to find anyone else on here with the same problem. Every time I turn the headlights on, they will pop up 100% of the time. The problem is that they only go down maybe one out of every 50 trys, and Im not exagerating the number. I usually have to manualy put them down at night, so I wont have to deal with it in the daytime the next day. Now heres my question, if they gears were stripped, would the headlights still go up every single time? Also, if the gears were stripped, would I be able to manualy put the lights down? Just FYI Ive never had the loud grinding noise issue. Any suggestions? Im at the point where Im about to buy 2 new motors from ebay.

pop open the headlights take off the plastic cover should be 2 or 3 screws, put you hand in there and feel around its a white plastic plug, might have to pull it off its plastic tabed down then take a look at it see if the conection is good.
if you can get to the plug with just the plastic piece of then you are going to have to take off the headlight to get to it. its not that hard to do. do a search on hear for trans am headlight and you should find the directions.
good luck

if you determine its just a bad gear just replace the gear

dont waste your money on another motor that will just strip out again
