Default Silverstar Ultra VS. HID kit

What do you guys think? i don't know to much about the Ultra's but from what i can tell in pictures they seem to put out a bright white light versus blue/white. anybody tried them? working on the front end conversion of my bird and want all the lights to match but more importantly wanna see better. So far i have gotten some LED DRL's (it's legal in TN) and some new fog housings with angel eyes. thanks for any input!

I read somewhere that the Ultra's are kinda the equivelant to a 4000k hid kit. I also saw a video of the ultra's compared to silverstars and the difference is definitely there...but that was in a video.

I've had the regular silverstars also and there really isn't much difference. But, the regulars burnt out on me in a year and a half. Had the ultras for about 6 months now

YOu can get the SU ultras 9006 and 9005 for about 52 bucks if you look. Its 100 bucks at autozone.

Are they as good as HID? NO!
Do they require rewiring and new projectors NO
Will they cost over 500 dollars NO

For the money I think its really really good thing to do and there much whiter and kick butt at night the brights are really good. I even put some in my DD car too. Get the ultras!

Eventhough the Silverstars are white, they do not have the light output of HID's. HID's are much better and with the cost of the Silverstar's, the Silverstars are not worth it. HID's is the 9006 are ~$250 and they will last much longer. Also, with the 9006's they is no rewiring. I have used Silverstars and HID's and there is NO comparsion.

Over $500?! I just got my HID's from LED Gauges for $250. Well worth it. I went from the PIAA's to the 8000k kit. I love em!

Yeah the silverstars don't last long at all! What really surprised me are my silverstar foglights...one of them went out after 6 months! My stockers were still working when I put the Silverstars in there, and the car is a 98.....I am going back to stockers for sure on the fogs.

My lead at work has been through 2 sets of Silverstar's in is Silverado. He will be making the switch to HID's since the Silverstar's are junk.

i have had the regular silverstars in my old car, and in that car i went to HID, and in my camaro i have the utras. the ultras are nowhere near as bright as the HIDs, but first off, they are legal, secondly require much less work, and thirdly, are cheaper. i paid $30/set and i got low beams and high beams. it wold be $500 for HIDs to do the same type of thing.

i guess it all depends on what you want to do. the ultras are better than stock, for sure, but arent as good as HID. id save teh money and use it toward something else on ther car.

I have Silverstars (don't know if they're Ultra or not). They are okay. http://www.freewebs.com/1999ta/sylvaniasilverstars.htm

I kind of wish I'd done HID, but part of me hates them because it is irritating when oncoming cars with HIDs or SUVs that are behind you blind you with them.

why does everyone think HID's cost $500. ebay has some awesome sets for WAY cheaper than that. a few of my Vette buddies and me got some straight from China and they work perfect and were less than $200.i will take some pics and post up how bright my 8000k's are.
