I don't think that is the top speed, that is the standing mile run.

How'd they measure that?! If that is really the standing mile, it would be a new record. JH (hate him) holds the record at 225mph? I sure hope That Vette broke the record, it just doesn't seem like a legit test though. John Lingenfelter > John Hennessey

Lingenfelter's World Record Holding Fastest Standing Mile Pass With Street Tires
This video was shot May 7th, 2007 at Oscoda, MI - Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport formerly Wurstsmith Air Force Base.
The Lingenfelter 2006 ZO6 Corvette 427 CID Twin Turbo blasted down the 11,800 foot runway from a dead stop to a measured mile at 226.25 MPH. This is not a race car and has full interior and stock seats and air conditioning. The car still has the factory style independent rear suspension. The car is fitted with a six point roll bar and 5 point harnesses.
This run beats our previous 2006 Motor Trend Shoot out run with a 2005 Corvette Twin Turbo that ran 211 MPH in the standing mile.
The last time a LPE Corvette went 226 MPH was back in March 2000 where we took a 1999 Corvette 650 HP Twin Turbo on the 7.5 mile long high bank oval track in Ohio. This car with John Lingenfelter driving was going more than 200 MPH coming out of the number four turn then the car hit 226 MPH before letting up for the next turn.
