HOw much can I mill 317's before I run into problems (6.0 w/cam)
I'm dealing with a LQ4 6.0. To make a long story short the guy wanted the performance sound of my old MOPAR and purchased a crane xer287 (238/240 .605/.609 112) against my recomendations. I installed this (in truck )along with matching springs and TCI 3200 and it runs strong but now he wants me to straighten it out (more power). This motor has the dished pistons so I hear that it dosn't need to be fly cut when milling the heads. What's the maximum I can cut before I run into ptv issues (I know, I know check with clay)? Also what kind of gain in compression are we looking at?

for the effort might as well find a set of 243 heads since they flow the same but have a better CC. with 243 heads the SCR will raise to around 10.5 instead of the current 9.5

I know that swapping heads would have been the best bet but he's a little tight on money and I'm just finishing up a port-o-thon marathon job I did on them. So has anyone had any experience on how much can be milled off and how much I will gain in compression?

OOPS! I posted the wrong cam specs. The correct ones are Comp Cams 54-000-11. Duration @.050 232/234 .595/.598, Duration @ .006 281/283, LSA 112
