Angry UPDAETD THREAD ~~~Trans Will Not Shift Into Third!!!!~~~

well was driving this morning and was normal cruise not on the gas much, i just woke up so i was still outta it and not really in a mood to go fast, but the car drove fine for about 5 miles. Then i leave a stop light and it will not shift into thrid at all. Revs forever and will not shift. I noticed in the last 2 days that the car was gradualy not shifting all that great, but being that i have a 4000 stall and a small trans cooler on it, that it does get hot. And livign in Florida doesnt help. I did have somewhat of this problem before and i drained the trans fluid and put fresh fluid in and it ran great up till now, that was about 7-8 months ago i think... maybe more.

Any Ideas On what can be causing this??. The guy told me it was a stage 2 trans to handle 700hp. I have 330hp/336tq so i dont think its a power issue.

Thanks in Advance

*EDIT* pics added

Sounds like you either have a sticky 2-3 shift valve or a 3-4 clutch pack that is smoked.

you think i should change the 2-3 solenoid first??? and see if that does the trick? Or should i just start saving $1800 for a new trans?

From looking at the chart you posted I would at least try the 2-3 soleniod and I see you also have a PCS code in history so you might consider replacing that also and while your in there look in pan and if there alot of gray matter then start saving for a trans.

yeah the PCS is a stupid code from like 2 years ago that i cant clear.... back when i originally broke my trans into 22,683 pieces give or take a few. But yeah so im going to replace the 2-3 solenoid then.

WHERE CAN I GET A 2-3 SOLENOID??, and i know what everyone will say a sponsor...lol but exactly how much and where and which one should i go with being that i have a 4000 stall.

thanks in advance, and thanks to all for the input

i hope its not that, i cant afford to buy another trans. $2700 on the first two were horrible and the budget wont allow for a rebuild again. so i guess if thats the case, i take it to the dealer and trade it

From the looks of the pan it don't look good.
You have my sympathies. I have been there too.
Luckily I have the luxury of letting mine sit until I can fix the problem.
Good Luck.

It's ironic you say that. I went through the exact same thing 3 times in 6 months in my '95 TA with the 3-4 clutch packs with a built 4L60e. I traded it in for my current 6-speed. Good luck!

okay, I changed the 1-2, 2-3 silonodes (sp) it didnt fix it. BUT, I command 3rd only in HPT, and i was able to drive it in 3rd up to 45 or 50 mph. ALSO, I I command the 2-3 selonoid (sp, again) only and it started in 2nd, shifted into 3rd for like 1 second, then it went lose again.
