Default pilot bearing too loose in crank, ideas?

I am putting a pilot roller bearing inside of a eagle crank and it doesnt press in tightly, you can EASILY slide the pilot in and out of teh crank....its almost like they machined the crank exactly the size of the pilot bearing O.D. there is no major slop, but i dont like the idea it is that loose. I tried several bearings, and even a bushing. Any ideas on what to do now? its a brand new motor and it seems the only way is to weld and grind the inside of the crank, or something similar to that. I have yet to find a sleeve to go around the PB to make it tighter. Think locktite may hold it in place? maybe put in the bearnig and put a very small tack weld on teh outside to hold it in place? thanks for any suggestions

Answered in your other thread. I have seen several have this issue. I believe it was the crank being bored to large. Eagle is aware of this and I believe they have a remedy. You need to contact them directly.

does anyone know what the "fix" consists of? Is it something like a sleeve you will have to wait on?

lol, ill split the plane ticket with you. i will be calling them this morning and see what they say. I am guessing bigger OD pilot bearing. as far as the oil leak, id get some RTV and put it around the plug in the center of your crank just in case.

Eagle sent me a new pilot bearing no charge when I called with this issue. No big deal. IIRC it's knurled. And definitely RTV the crank plug.

Your real problem will be in the future when you need another knurled pilot bearing.

I have the same issue with my Eagle crank. a kurnled pilot bearing was the solution they gave me. although I was told I had to purchase mine. I went ahead and got an extra one just in case I need it in a pinch.

After going through some BS (they had to have proof of purchase of the crank to give me a bearing...like i would go through all this to save myself 10 bucks) i got the knurled PB. Even THAT bearing fit a little too loose for my liking. I tapped it in there and it was snug at first, but got loose again as it went further in the hole. i slid it back out and put some red locktite around it and it seems to be working OK for now. the whole experience with Eagle and the customer service on the phone this time around was not the greatest by all means, but at least they attempted to fix the problem. Next time i will be spending a couple hundred more on a crank for sure.

sucks too hear you didn't get the kind of customer service you wanted. at least you got the bearing you needed and hopefully that will fix your problem.

You should ask them to send you an extra just in case you need one in a pinch...
