Default Power Steering...

Ok... so my power steering pump is getting extremely loud and annoying, but it's not doing anything wrong. I guess I'll replace it... but where and what kind of replacement should I get for an '00 SS?

Uhhhh,,, if its loud as in whining.. that means the pump is cavitating so it doesn't have enough fluid. When you say you're gonna replace it what are you gonna replace? The pump? The Rack? If you insist on doing it do both as the rack tends to send small metal particles into the pump which leads to the pump failing. You can get a re-manufactured rack and pinion for about 150$ at NAPA or maybe cheaper at autozone and you can get a pump for about 50$ at NAPA.

Then again you might consider just going to have the P/S fluid flushed If the system isn't leaking and the pump is still working fine then I would say just flush it with new fluid and you'd be good to go.

Well, I'm not dumb... of course I've checked the fluid, and it hasn't lost a drop.
