System in, not enough mids. Suggestions?
No pix yet, the system is in, but the car isnt totally reassembled. And its in shambles. lol But Ive been testing it out and it sounds great, however, theres not enough midrange in the sound. I've messed with the HU EQ and still not getting what I want.
Heres my setup:
- Diamond Audio D661a Component Speakers up front
Specs: 6 1/2 In., 100/200 Watts
-Alpine MRV-F345 Multi Channel Amp
Specs: 4/3/2, 75 RMS x4,
*** Actually I have a temp amp, a newer smaller Alpine, the MRP-F250 powering the front speakers while my other amp gets repaired. **
- 2 Alpine SWR-1022D (10") Subs
- Alpine MRD-M1005 Mono Amp
- Subthump Dual 10" T-Top Box
Now, my questions are... is it possible the amp isnt providing enough power to the speakers? (We didnt bridge it.) Or that the amp itself could be adjusted to correct this? (I'm really thinking its amp related) Could some lower frequency sail panel speakers fix my problem if its not the amp? Could it be a power issue? (Yellow top going in, alternator more than likely in the future.)
Any help would be nice. The components are naturally brighter sounding, but I've heard them before and I dont remember them lacking this much in the mid range. So I'm at a loss.
Thanks.

I'm not sure, my friend is the one who took care of that. I just ran most of the wires. lol I didnt even know that there was an option for that, I'll take a look.

75 hz is a pretty good place for it.
Most people have their crossovers set between 40 and 100 hz. Mine are set at 80 hz and the subs pick up everything else below 80 hz.
What is the lowpass set at for the subs?

I love the subs, they hit hard and clean. Great bang for the buck for sure.
Dragon, he was talking about an amp powering components, not subs.
I think my problem lies in this temp amp underpowering the speakers. We didnt even bridge it, so theyre only seeing 50w. Which more than likely just isnt enough. So I need to figure out how to bridge this amp, I dont need the bridge the RCA's as well do I? It shows something about a y connector in the manual, but I dont see why thats needed?

Edit: Whoops, I don't understand. What are you talking about with Y cables? If it's taking 2 RCAs and putting them in through a Y cable to go into a mono amp, then you don't need it.

Its a multi channel amp with the RCA's just regularly plugged in to it from the HU. But the diagram shows something about bridging the RCA's as well. Which I dont follow... why would you do that?
