Ok I Want To Buy One Of These 3 Cars, The 2000-2002 Camaro Ss,or Ws6, Or Like A 98 Vette ????? Wat Do U Guys Think, Im New To V8's Im A Rotary Guy And Want A V8 Daily Beater

what kind of rotary do u drive? cause im pretty sure people woulnt classify the cars u mentioned as beaters.

Why you got a 20b or something?.. Anyhow, I'd go with the Vette... Hands down. BUT

If you need some room every once in awhile... I'd suggest either the Z28 or the Ws6, Whichever you like.

WS6! I was gonna get a vette but I have to carry some display stuff around for work from time to time and the vette has very limited room.

the ws6 is not faster than the vette in stock form plus theres a very large weight difference between the two

i may be wrong but i dont beleive a GTO would pull on a C5 stock vs stock, theres a HUGE weight difference.

LS1 is an LS1 is an LS1 :bang:
The factory mods done to the SS and WS6 cars are not significant enough to make them trully any quicker. Both are handling/appearence packages.
C5 Corvette - 3200lbs
C5 Z06 - 3100lbs
fbody - anywhere from 3400-3600lbs
The C5 vette and fbodies are low 13 second cars stock, and a C5 Z06 is capable of low 12s.

the cheapest ls1 powered car your gonna find will be a z28, but do as you wish your gonna be the one buying and driving it

i defer, im saying a nice FD=WS6, but thats just because i come from the whole "import" thing, dont get me wrong id MUCH rather have a ws6 than a rx-7 for the simple fact that rotary's arent known to last..

yea cuz the rotary isnt a good daily unless its n/a or stock, i have an 86 fc that im going build first and a 84 fb that im build later, well im going for a ws6 or vette most likey the vette.

Regular vette is around 3250 while z06 and Fixed Roof Coupe (no removable top like z06) are about 150lb lighter.. SS, Ws6 are around 3450 coupe a hundred or so more for vette of course these are without gas or people..

Just get something year 2k or better preferably 01 or better..

But i have a feeling after you buy it its not going to be youre "beater" anymore.

If you want low price, get a z28 and put an SS hood on it or something. Same car.

thats with a stellar driver, and on drag radials.. Ranger (member on here) use to have one with CAI and radials run 11.7s i believe. But most run low to mid 12s.

and also vettes are capable of mid-upper twelves like 12.7 12.8ish.. the vette a4s are low 13 second cars...

while 6speed f bodys are capable of high twelves but most will fall 13.1-13.4 with A4s coming between 13.3 and 13.7..

of course this is general, and with many variables.

Agreed. This guy seems like a total tool, nobody buys an LS1 for a "beater".

Thats just completely pointless. Funny how a 5.7L V8 gets better fuel ecomy than a 1.1L rotary though :jest:

The Vetts have a much bigger trunk than most think. I'd go for the vette, assuming it was in good shape and decent mileage (below 75k)

there's noting funnier then pulling up next to a vette or ws.6 or SS and have them look at you like oh you're just in a Z28 then you run hard on them
I wanted the less expencive ls1 car so I could spend more on mods

Well first off. The corvette c5 will make the same power as a WS6, SS, Z28, Formula, Trans Am, pre-05 GTO etc... The corvette c5 zo6 will make around 350rwhp. The other's mentioned will make around 310rwhp. The post-05 GTO's (ls2) made around the same as the zo6. This of course is in stock form. Now weight, really the big difference between each.

For those who doubt the fact that an ls1 is an ls1 no matter what car it's in can take a look at this.

04-06 GTO - 3725lbs
98-02Conv. Trans Am - 3625lbs
98-02 Trans Am - 3500lbs

98-02 Conv. Camaro Z28 - 3575lbs
98-02 Camaro Z28 - 3450lbs
97-04 Conv. Corvette - 3200lbs
97-04 Corvette - 3200lbs

05-07 Corvette - 3175lbs
07 Z06 Corvette - 3125lbs

(These are estimates taken from autotraders research part of their website, weights may be off, but I would say they are good estimates)

Keep in mind that corvettes are much more expensive than an F-body. So if you want a "beater" as you call it, I'd skip the vettes.

Given weight and power I'm sure you can make an informed decision on what would best suit your needs or is faster.

The corvette is a y-body.
The camaro/firebird is an f-body.
