My area is projected to get 1.5 million of them per acre. I wish I held off buying a house in an old neighborhood for one more year.

"In late May 2007, billions of periodical cicadas from Brood XIII will emerge from the ground throughout northern Illinois and parts of neighboring states. In celebration of this spectacular phenomenon, the Lake County Forest Preserve District offers cicada-related programs, special events, and other fun stuff."

You guys want this?

"Cicadas are the most efficient and loudest sound-producing insects around. Only the males sing as a mating ritual to attract females. A single male’s courtship call can reach 90 dB —- equivalent to a noisy truck on the road or a kitchen blender."

HAHAHA, Wow... a billion of those noisey bastards?

Haha thats why were arming ourselves with Airsoft, tennis racquets, and cans of raid. It may be cruel punishment but they are coming into our territory. It will be like the movie 300, we must defend our honor!

Man those 17 year invasions are a mother f(*&er. I was in Maryland and we had one in '04. Every car in every parking lot was covered in Cicada guts; not to mention the noise those damn things make. Not much you can do against a million big *** bugs except let your dog eat them. I hear they're high in protien...

I remember the last time they had all this talk. Us city people had it very easy. I guess fertilizers stop them from reproducing so much, plus not as much empty land.

2 years ago (our invasion) one hit my face shield while I was riding my KZ750E. I thought someone had thrown a rock at me. After the reverberations stopped, I realized what had happened.
If they eat rice, we should line the western borders with Hondas and Toyotas. After they eat that much lead-assed slowness, they should halt their advance, right?

What am I missing? So some bugs come out...they come out every year, some years more than others. What's the big deal, and why are you gonna torch them? I'm not a PETA-type, not by _ANY_ means, but what the hell is the point of burning them? Stupid. I guess I must have forgotten what it's like to be 16.

last time this happened i went down to columbus, EVERY single tree trunk was covered all the way around with these things.

You could drive through a "cloud" of them at some points. Slick the roads, etc
