POLL TIME!!! Where to start?
So in october my car will be completely paid off...FINALLY! And basically i plan on taking it from DD to show car. I have tons of ideas but i can't decide on what to start with first. So i thought maybe you guys could help me out. My car is a 01 Firebird w/automatic.i've already ordered alot of misc parts for the exterior and interior but none for the engine swap yet. I realize that this might take me some time but i think it's gonna be well worth it. So help me out!

what engine do you plan to swap in? LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7 or something else? i dont recommend an LS1, it would be cheaper to just sell your car and buy an LS1 car. if you do LS2 then itll be different and i would give props for that.

Im in the process of making mine into a show/drag car as we speak. Its been in the shop for 5 weeks now, with me doing most of the work, outside of the painting of the exterior. I would have liked to get the engine swap done that way I wouldnt have to worry about any scratches once everything is done, but due to funding and that fact that I am making good power and keeping things together at this point, Im gonna run her until the time comes.
So I vote engine swap if funding is availble...Drop an LS2 or LS6 in her, then finish off in interior, exterior. Or like me and do due to funding do inside and out. To me interior and exterior can get done around the same time, yet again depending on funding. This may only bring more questions to your mind than it does help but its my .02!

Even though this is the 'Appearance' section, it is still ls1tech and 90% of the users here are speed junkies! Engine swap all the way man!
You had probably just better go ahead and get an LS7

Transplant is #1. If you have the money for an LSX which I doubt, because you have a V6 in the first place (don't worry, my 3800 is still sitting in my bird) then buy one. The only problem is....they're only 2 months old, so you can only buy a new one. If you need to keep the swap more reasonable, try to find a used LS7, then LS6, then LS2. Like others have said, an LS1 swap is pointless because you could just trade-in and buy an LS1 car.
Keep this in mind....an engine in a car it's not supposed to be in is a sleeper and can be one of the most feared cars on the street. Appearance mods on a car they're not supposed to be on is a ricer, and usually gets laughed at after it's pissed on.

INTERIOR FIRST HANDS DOWN!!!
Think about what you're doing, get a game plan and make sure you don't end up having to re-do anything... EXTERIOR should definetly be LAST!
Do interior first, then engine bay then exterior. This is the order where you are the least likely to have to go back and re-do stuff. Exterior is last because you don't want to be doing either (the interior or engine swap) around a perfect car that you WILL end up scratching with something.
Do the engine swap (painting the bay while you are in there) second because while you are in the interior you might add a sound system or something that will add wires to the engine bay and then you'll just have to go back to the engine bay to hide/arrange everything a second time.
If it weren't a show car the interior and engine order wouldn't matter as much but the exterior would still be last...

well after reading into enging swaps and figure out money and all the suggestions i got...i believe it would be best and probably cheaper to just get a trans am or a GTO. that way the engine is already there and i don't have to beat my head in trying to get a engine to work.

well at least you got that figured out before you started dumping money into your V6. If you do, at least get items that you can swap if you get a V8 down the road, like wheels and tires.
