If your talking about stock heads I would say that the 241 casting number is the best way to go if you want a ported set. next step up would be the LS6 243 casting.

243's for sure.
I wouldn't even mess with the 241's, 806's,853's etc.
Unless your gonna do a 5.3 head, but I perfer the LS6 243's.

well if they have been ported and you have a 228 cam, you should be able to make 400 no problem....

i understand who ported them but that still doesnt tell how far of a port job they did

numbers are numbers man.....dont so much worry about your power as what you can do at the track....you want to take the stall out and be the guy who says hey look i made huge numbers....but my car is slow

or do you want to be the guy who makes 380 and runs 11s?....not to say you still wont be above 400, your not going to lose that much

well my ultiamte goal is a very high 11 (11.8's) very low 12's (12.0-12.1) consistantly so hopefully i can pull it off. id just like high dyno numbers so i can buy a pretty little plaque to put near the radio jsut for bragging rights

sounds good to me. i may upgrade to a fast 90 intake, but i wanan get a pulley first. ill start digging into the suspension before long, that should make me more consistant

Thanks for the replies guys. I am running the msv4 and I am wanting ported heads. I just wanted to know which stock heads would be the best to start a port job on. I have a local guy here that says he can do excellent things with the 243 castings so I will go with those unless there are some that flow close to those for cheaper
