Default can't hook worth crap

i have a heads and cam car with a 373 rear end gear also 4000 stall with 325 et streets and i still can't hook. i'm on a stock suspension lower control arms and shocks and so fourth. do you think i'm just not sending the power to the ground and thats why i'm just spinning them for like 30 ft.? even when i heat them up?

Getting any wheelhop or just spinning? What kinds of tire pressures were you running?

Suspension-wise, I'd invest in a chassis-mounted adjustable torque arm and some LCAs to start with.

How much pressure were you running in the tires, and what size are they? 325/50r15 or something around there?

Drag shocks/springs will obviously help, but the stock stuff isn't really that terrible.

If you want a few small, easy, cheap upgrades, get a poly torque arm mount, transmission mount, and swaybar mounts/endlinks. Could throw an air bag in the right rear spring too. That made a huge difference levelling my car out at the track last time. LCA bushings are good to get done too, but for the cost/time of putting new bushings in your old arms, you're almost better off just buying a basic set of non-adjustable poly/poly arms.

a torque arm will only improve you if you go with a shorter than stock arm because that will put a little more "weight" on the back tires. otherwise, you'll keep on spinning.

I would start lowering the pressure 2lbs at a time and see where the tire with your setup match the best. I like 18psi when running mine but some cars dont like that pressure.

well i finally got my car all done and tuned and i threw on the mt's and i went out to race a sti last night and he got me from a dig since i just left 20 to 30 ft. strips but i got him after i finally hooked up. i had my 200 and something pound friend in the car also. first race i gave the trans brake like real low rpm and i just slipped. 2nd race was just me and i gave it a a little foot brake and i really didn't even give it any gas and again just didn't hook up. so somethings not right on the car i have a th400 with a stock torque arm.
