Default Rear wheel movement...not good?

Car is a 96 Z28. With the wheel off the ground, I can move it in and out about 1/16". The entire hub moves...rotor and all. Is this bad? What the hell is it?

Oh..there's no fore and aft movement at all...just straight in and out.

Thanks!!

Mike

Mine does the same thing. I've heard it's not a huge deal. I use my car for autox and road racing

its the slack in the axle to posi mating surface and the ring gear to pinion backlash.
