Default G5x4

I'm looking at buying the G5X4 cam for my 02' z06. I plan on running my stock untouched heads. What all is needed to make this thing fit and what other parts do i need to make it as safe/reliable as possible. Thanks!

Thats a great cam for your stock heads. Make sure you get yourself a set of longtubes and mid pipe. The cam should go in without any problems. Get yourself a good tune and theres no reason you can make 425+rwhp.

i dont know of anything that can make it safe(except for flycutting) but make sure you get a good valvetrain setup and the supporting mods to get all the power out of it!

i'm trying to get as much clearance as i possibly can b/c it is such a big cam. a little more room for a missed shift is what im after. i very rarely miss a gear but i would like to have the room for error in case i did.

Flycut to be on the safeside and you will need dual springs rated to .650 lift. You will love this cam.

I think i have decided on the complete cam & valvetrain kit from LG Motorsports. unless anyone knows where i can save a few dollars and get it cheaper. LS2 timing chain, ported oil pump, underdrive pulley, and LG Pro Offroad Headers, Vararam. Any guesses as what it should make?

around 450 or 425 depending if you plan on getting a ported Fast 90 and NW 90mm TB.

You already have 243 heads so those would help out. I put down 408/380 on my Z28 through a 12 bolt. My LS6 clutch was giving up the ghost when that dyno run was made because less than a month later, the whole graph shifted down 10HP. I can't wait to see what it can do with a better clutch and lighter flywheel.

yeah if you want it to run as safe as possible i would definitly fly cut. ima gonna say your going to be making around 420 rwhp and less if its an auto

Since it's for a C5 Z06, it can't be an auto and with 243 heads, that is worth a couple more ponies than 853s and 241 heads.

Vettes seem to make more power in the dyno than the F-Body's for some reason. Anyway, there are plenty of guys in the 440-450rwhp range on CF with that cam, LTs, and tune.

I would imagine like others were saying that 420rwhp should be seen at the minimum. I only made 412rwhp and 368tq with my stock untouched 853 heads and stock 10bolt(99z28) I didn't flycut at all, but I guess to be safe it never hurts. I don't know how high you plan on revving it up to ,but I can tell you that I've bounced mine off of 7K a couple of times and it never hit yet. So so far I've been fairly happy with the cam, except for the fact that everytime I start the car I have to play with the throttle for a little bit so I can get the thing to idle right. what thickness gaskets should i go back with, and how much should i flycut my pistons.

Grab the cometic .040 gaskets. Measure to see how much clearance you have once you get all the parts in. More than likely you will need to cut at least .060 on the intake, and .080 on the exhaust. Maybe more or less. I dont have any personal experience with that cam. Get ahold of LG, they will be more than willing to help ya out and guide you on how much you need to go.
