Default 650rwhp possible?TS LSX454,ETP canted valve

Just wonder what people think the limits of texas speeds lsx 454 will be on pump gas.
Something like 11.8 compression lsx 454,etp canted valve heads, sheet metal intake and of course all the other mods like exhaust, electric water pump

I'm not so sure about TSP but if you cant make 650rwhp in a 6 speed with that setup than you need a new builder...... A 454 ci with a pair of 420cfm plus heads and a intake to match ,i'm thinking closer to 700...

Through a manual I see no problem hitting that although you're going to want to go solid roller and spin the motor to get the full benefit of those heads. With an auto you're talking maybe 580-600 rwhp depending on stall efficiency. It's hard to speculate though because you didn't give an rpm range or give an idea of how streetable you're going to try and make this thing.

My only requirement will be pump gas. Maybe ill keep some race gas at the house to help it out a little. A solid roller will be fine as long as i wouldnt have to adjust the valves every oil change. It is going to be going in a 03 z06. 700 at the wheels on pump gas would be amazing.

As long as you have a motor that will hold 8,000 rpm's, you'll be good. Probablly won't be the nicest driver down low, but should be fun from 5-8k. My goals are 650 rwhp before 7k, but this is a much diffrent combo.

With the right cam selection for your set-up on a 454 LSX motor with killer heads and a sheet metal intake I think you will see 650rwhp on pump gas in your C5 Z06! Killer set-up, and probably going to do something similar in my C5 Z06 if and when my stock motor gives up the ghost!

I don't think you'd have any problems making 650-700 on pump gas even with a hyd. roller. We can make the canted valve heads street friendly with no issues. Since they make their best flow gains by .700 lift, and have an extremely efficient flow co-efficient, you would not even need that much camshaft. 245 @ .050 would be plenty.

I think that would be a awesome setup to build! The canted valve setup looks really awesome! If cash money was no object I'd definately build a 454 with that cylinder head. We've been working on a more economical configuration for the average ls guys. A complete PRC cnc ported ls7 head that moved 380-390cfm! Hopefully we'll get some results for you guys shortly!
