Default coolant temp sensor

I need a coolant temp sensor for my 98 ls1. My current water temp gauge isnt working, and I think this is the problem. Thanks,

is it the same as the lt1??? the sensor that goes in the cylinder head

woah I totally forgot about this post. I got a brand new 98 coolant temp sensor and it still dont work. I was thinking because my engine is a 99. Il have to check by the injectors.
