Default Opinions on this motor.

Hey guys,

I'm looking at a supercharged Camaro in the area, here are the details of the buildup:

Motor: complete rebuild by Total Performance on 10-4-04, 26,000 mi.
new LS6 block, rebuilt using original SS LS1 cam, lifters and crank
(ground 10/10 and polished). Line hone, balanced all. New Mahle
LS1314905109 forged pistons 3.905" with 8cc dish (around 9:1
compression), Mahle Duramoly piston rings file fit, CRS-6125 forged I
beam rods 6.125", Clevite 10 over rod race bearings, Federal Mogule
Race hardened main bearings .010 over, new GM timing chain.
Heads: surfaced, valve job, new Viton seals, new ARP pro series head
studs, LS6 valves and springs.

The car has Vortech on it and makes right about 475rwhp. How stout is that motor? Anything I should be worried about? Any opinions are welcome, thanks.

Sounds strong indeed, prob would push it past 700hp just to be on the safe side.

Is the stock crank the weak point in the motor? Anyone know how much abuse it'll take?

no.. stock crank has been used to 1000+rwhp

i'd say you could definitely push 700rwhp with that motor without risking anything...
very similar to the motor i'm building, only wiht -16cc Mahle pistons and Eagle forged rods...

It's here in lovely Southern California. It's only running 8lbs of boost(in order to pass smog legally). If I bought it, I'd probably up the boost at some point because I think the motor can definitely handle more than 475RWHP it's making. It also has a Moser 12-bolt in the back so I wouldn't have to worry about grenading the rearend.

find out what size pulley is on the car for the blower. It can certainly make more power.

Do you have the details of your buildup - your car sounds awesome.

the injectors are 38lb./hr
The fuel pump is a Vortech T-Rex 50 GPH @ 70 PSIG...

I just got that from the owner, how much boost can that fuel system support? Can I do 12psi or do I need bigger injectors?

no, you'll need to upgrade to something like 60lb injectors for that much boost....
I'm gonna be running 60lbers for 14 lbs boost, and that's stretching them ... much more boost and i'd need more

Is the pump enough, or would I need a new pump too?

i'm not real sure actually... for mine, (14 psi) i went with twin 255lb walboro pumps, but i'm not sure if 1 would have been enough or not.... somehow i doubt it tho... i'm guessing that 12 psi would be just a bit beyond what 1 can do...

someone else will have to help ya with that.....
