Default Starting installing STS rear mount kit

just started the install

i am unsure on how the turbo will react to the Torquer V2 and the 5.3L heads.

But i ran most of the piping through and will be having a muffler shop weld the flange on and run open exhaust today.

Just need to run the wires to the oil pump, run the pcv check valve and the high/low switch.

What are the specs on the cam?

The 5.3L heads...did you install that to up or lower your CR? I know the 6.0L truck heads are a great swap for FI setups b/c it lowers your CR to a more boost friendly spot. (plus they're CHEAP!!)

The heads obviously are going to affect how much boost you can run. C5 Z06's, which have a higher CR than the LS1's are running 5.5 - 6psi through an FMIC on a conservative tune and making 500+rwhp. On the LS1's, you need about 8psi to get those numbers if you have stock heads/bottom-end.

500rwhp can be achieved with the right tune on an LS1....... im one of the lucky ones and she has a little more left in her (TRT says). its possible, just gotta choose the right combo. i imagine if you built an LS1 with 6L heads and the right cam, it could be possible to achieve 550rwhp..... im only on 5.5-6 psi and im just over 500, imagine where i could be with 7.5psi AND 6L heads...... gotta be careful on the cam selection.

GOODLUCK with the build and keep posting threads to keep us updated

its a 232/234 .595/.598 @ 113 lsa

im in positive overlap but its only 7 degrees so im running only 5.5 psi.

the heads/cam were done already but i may swap out with a 6L head if tuning becomes aproblem

because now that one pipe is making it stick out a little more

they save money but waste alot of time.. just remove the lt side subframe connector, your charge pipe fits in same location and acts as a subframe connector, problem solved

Yah the piping is supposed to "act" as a SFC for that side of the car... if you read up on their website it tells you that. Kinda dumb IMO lol

well it is a hollow pipe with flat solid mount tabs on each end for installation, it is a very ridged piece and wont flex, a round tubing is harder to bend. trust me i have it installed on my car it is very solid. and with the rt side subframe welded it stiffens the car very nicely.

yes, if you think about it, it does ACT like a sfc, but in no way is it a replacement for an actual solid sfc piece. they keyword here is ACT

well i chopped off my SFC and installed that pipe

now all the pipes are installed, tomorrow i will be running oil lines, power line, and wiring harness

then monday i will have a custom Y pipe made with 3 inch exhaust to the T4 flange....

tuesday-wednesday will be installing the 42 lbs injectors and finally connecting the turbo to the exhaust.

i will then do a basic tune and then dyno tune and hope for great results. im hoping for 500 whp...one can hope.
