Default whats the best way to go about this?

im trying to figure out the easiest way on parts to do this....

im looking at either running much more boost on less CR.... say about 23psi on 7.9:1 CR

or running about 16psi on about 9.0 CR.... i would like to be making about 1000fwhp give or take 100-200hp.... if it looks like it will make more than that alot easier off a F1r than so be it.... but im not looking to just pound and pound on parts..... i'd rather break the blower than the motor so to me it looks like a low CR motor would be best but im not totally sure...

let me know what you guys think... this may be a winter project but before a put a set of nice heads on this motor i need a plan for the future to know what combustion chamber size is needed later on...

thanks,
Tyler

yes i know kp's combo pretty well although i still think he has secrets so i know how fast my little d1sc can go....

remember that i have a 408 with a gmmp and a magnafuel pump, -8.... the only big change i would need is injectors and a box...

but more than likely i also would go the bs3 route... its just too cheap and easy not to...

i also plan on leaving everything alone untill i can make several 6.50ish passes.... my chassis/suspension still has many issues to resolve, so i wont be putting the cart before the horse...

A D1SC will never provide enough air for a 8:1 408 with a large cam, I told you that a year ago..

Its like a see-saw, if you raise the compression you get more heat in the chamber but you will also make more power with less of a blower. Lower the compression and put a bigger blower on to make more power and the blower takes more HP to run, makes more heat and now you have to worry about belts. Its not uncommon for class racers that are limited by blower size to run upwards of 11.5:1 compression, granted they are somewhat hand grenades but it can be done.

I'll take the higher compression/smaller blower myself but others will say the opposite. Either way 6.50s should be doable even with that you have there, I would bump the compression up some, pulley that D1 up and keep on trying.

Only secret on my car is keeping the 9 year old black paint looking good

so you think a 9.0:1 CR would be a good starting point for a d1sc or a f1r?

if i were to run a F1r what CR would/should i look for?

Either one, why put the apple before the cart like you said though, I would get the compression higher with the D1 first, get what you can out of it and if you arent happy with it put an F1 on it. 6.50s should be easy with the parts you have.

right thats what i had in mind... raise the CR see what the d1 gives me if i dont like it move on.... i just didnt want it to a situation where 9:1 might be more than i would want on a f1r...

yeah, its put a 6.70 pass down with footbraking at 3500 rpms with a 1.497 60ft at 105mph... im sure with the shocks and struts im putting on ill be able to come off the Tbrake at 5k rpms... i cant wait

I wouldnt do 5K off the trans brake, it wont work very well and will most likely just blow the tires away off the line, put a 2 step on it and set it between 2500-3K. My car runs better foot braking it then off the brake with no 2 step, way better.

You have to solder some wires, its not plug in like Harlan's. Not a big deal though, worked fine for me.
