Default Which LSx models and years come with close ratio tranny and conventional throttle?

I've been the market for an 2001 or 2002 LS1 (hard to find) based on the equipment configuration, clutch, etc. It's getting even easier to find '04 Vette and Goat engines and the prices are comming down.

However, I'm building a 2,200 lb roadseter and need the close ratio tranny (ie 2.66:1 1st gear), not the version with "heavy car" ratios. Is there a way to tell between the two when buying an engine from a dismantler? Also, what models/years have conventional throttles or any other equipment that may make conversion difficult?

All LS1 Camaro and Firebird had a cable-actuated throttle body and their T56's all had 2.66 first gear. For that matter, all of the LT1 F-bodies had 2.66 first too except for '93, but the LT1 T56 isn't a clean bolt-on to the LS1 due to the clutch differences. Look for a 99-02 Camaro/Firebird LS1 & T56. Don't worry about the clutch--you'll need to replace it no matter what you get. Only other significant advantage 01-02 has is the lack of EGR, but that's trivial to remove from 99-00.
