View Full Version : Just demolished an Audi R8

Cruising down the road on my way home I noticed an exotic looking car in front of me. At first glance, I thought it was a Ferrari. As I got behind him I noticed the audi symbol along with the "R8". Got up next to him but he would never look at me.
Prior to me pulling next to him, I heard him goosing it a couple cars ahead "exotic sound btw" so I knew he might be game for a race.
I get back behind him at a light, light turns green and he slowly starts going. I left it in first just in case he decided to jump and sure enough he takes off. I caught him and FLEW by, then slowed to give him a thumbs up but he woudlnt even look at me.
As soon as I got home, I did some research on them to see their specs. They are said to run 12.6's at around 113 so it's no surprise that I would win, but it was still cool to see one on the road.
Well, that's my story, thanks for reading.

Thanks. Yea, this is my first time seeing one of these in person. Nice car. I'd bet it'd tear me a new one in the twisties.

Depends. They are kinda heavy and Audi AWD is till a bit understeer prone.

AFAIK your the first to post up a kill on one of those. Sweet!

i dunno that vette should take some corners pretty well.

i on the other hand cant go around a corner very fast or my rear tires scrub=(

Congrats! Nice kill. I didn't think these things were even set for release until the fall, at the earliest! BTW; with sticky enough handling tires, and as long as you did not swap in QA1s/Hals, you would stick right with him in the "twisties" (on smooth, dry roads, at least). ;)

The R8's are pretty light and are Mid-engined RWD I beleive.

so far the two trim levels of the R8 both feature the Audi Quattro = AWD.

nice kill, im not exactly sure but i think the R8 is relativley light for a audi it would be a great race a on a twisty course. i hope they come out with v10 one and posibbly the V12 TDI, 735 lb/ft of torque + AWD =

One blew my doors off in Florida. It was modified and i'm pretty stock.

I don't know if this one was modified, although I do not think it was. It def. had an exotic sound.
As for weight, I believe I read they weigh around 3400lbs which is comparable to f-bodies. Just from "reading" stock for stock, they should win every time if they are running 12.6's. I would imagine that most of that grunt is in the launch with AWD since he wasn't much of a race for me from a 15mph roll.

yeah i doubt you had any problem with him. with my sweet 2.73's my auto and a lid and catback i was screwed lol I didn't know what it was til I got home and looked it up. Then I didn't feel as bad.

Good kill !! Let me know if you come across a BMW M5 V10. I got to race one in Illinois on my way back from Texas. I would love to destroy the Audi you raced. I like beating up high dollar Euro rides.

Its basicly a detuned lamborghini gallardo. There the same cars, with slit twists to them

I too love ass pounding high end cars.

Actually the r8 can only send a max of 30% of output to the front so its more oversteer prone than any other audi. The back end comes around quite nicely from what I've seen.

Yep the R8 is mid engine with a 40/60 F/R torque split so it definitely can handle.

man that r8 looks

Congrats on the kill - they're pretty rare cars so far. I got to sample one a short while back; great looks, decent power, and very comfortable as a bonus *L*. Here's a link to a Top Gear review:
